Five months to go and the planning is all on schedule.
We have permission from the children's schools for the time off. Not only that we are going to help with linking one or two Mongolian and Somerset schools. We have started our jabs, and have decided on additional rabies and tick born encephalitis jabs. At £50 a hit its expensive. We are paying out £800 + on vaccinations - why is it so expensive? We have had the Landy truck painted and will post pictures soon. Will also write an outline of the whole expedition soon.
The Landy truck is a 1969 Foward Control 110 Series Landrover. We have kitted it out with the essentials for two kids and two adults to live in it for three and a half months while driving to Mongolia. Work still to be done on the truck includes: repairing the radiator hose, the rear air locker (that means going into the axel), one of the water pipes (but not a simple job as its under one of the petrol tanks - we have three petrol tanks by the way, and when full means we could drive for 1400 miles without having to refill). Also need to repair the push-up roof and put the wooden roof racks back on. We have been trying to think of a name for the truck but cannot agree on one yet. The suggestions so far have been Lulu and Roxy.
